Voodoo Envy Giveway at Notebooks.com

Our friends from Notebooks.com are giving away a Voodoo Envy 133 (and three Lenovo S10) in a raffle. To enter, you’ll have to send a few minutes of your time filling a “Color Survey“. Anyhow, we did it because we want green and orange laptops, and yes this is going to decrease our chances to win, but we thought that you might want to give your opinion about laptops and colors. Good luck!

Thanko Sound Lives Stereo Earphone

Thanko Sound Lives Stereo Earphone

Thanko’s most famous for their range of quirky devices, and the Sound Lives Stereo Earphone is no different. This pair of earphones don’t follow conventional wisdom, featuring instead a tiny speaker on the outer ear that is able to swivel up to 90 degrees, enabling those who suffer from ear fatigue to enjoy audio without shutting themselves out from the environment completely. Sounds ideal if you want to enjoy music while jogging outdoors, but the blare from the Sound Lives Stereo Earphone might also upset other joggers who prefer a quiet morning run without being subject to Britney Spears and other sugary sweet pop stars of today. You can pick up the Sound Lives Stereo Earphone from Thanko for $18.

Sony launches its NV-U94T GPS

Sony launches its NV-U94T GPS

Sony just launched its highest-end GPS navigation system, the NV-U94T. We liked the overall physical design of the NV-U series and the look of the user-interface, but among the many features (like real-time traffic info), there are a few that we found particularly interesting:

High resolution display: 480×272 is equivalent to what you get on a Sony PSP, and believe me, it makes a huge difference in readability when compared to 320×240 screens.

Easy to dock/remove cradle: leaving the GPS in plain sight might result in having your car broken into and many users have to add/remove the GPS often. Now, the mere presence of the dock might trigger a break-in as well, but in too annoying to remove the mount as well.

Portable PC Theatre Concept

Portable PC Theatre Concept

Instead of toting around a projector as well as a notebook, why not merge both devices into one machine? Enter the portable PC theatre concept that sees a full-fledged multimedia PC and a 5.1 surround sound system that allows you to enjoy your favorite movies anytime, anywhere - just make sure you’re near a power outlet since a projector will probably drain a standard notebook battery dead within a short period of time. It would also be an engineering challenge to make sure the heat from the projector will be dissipated correctly without adversely affecting the rest of the computer’s components. No idea on whether this concept is viable or not, but it would definitely be mighty impressive it if is ever realized.

MSI EX300 Notebook

MSI EX300 Notebook

The summer Olympics might have finished with a bang early this week, but that has not stopped MSI from rolling out its EX300 notebook that comes with a fluid body design, adapting the idealism of “Athletic DNA” and “Mobile Technology”. In layman’s terms, the MSI EX300 wants to lead the notebook world where style and fashion is concerned. Available in Dazzling Blue or Brilliant Red colors, it will come with an Intel Core2 Duo processor, an Intel PM45 Express chipset, HD capabilities, wireless connectivity and superior battery life. No idea on pricing, but this 13.3″ notebook sounds rather ordinary with a different marketing slant in an attempt to set it apart from the overpopulated notebook market.

SanDisk SD Extreme III Touches 30MB/s

SanDisk SD Extreme III Touches 30MB/s

SanDisk is a household name when it comes to flash storage solutions, and their line of Extreme SD memory cards are pretty famous with professional photographers as well as computer enthusiasts. This time round, SanDisk’s new Extreme III SDHC memory card will feature a transfer speed of 30MB/s, hitting the market from next month onwards in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. You can purchase the 16GB version for $179.99, so you do the math as to whether this offers enough bang for your buck. Just to get an idea of how fast and capable it is, I quote from Canon’s 50D literature, “It can shoot up to 6.3 fps, in bursts of up to 90 JPEGs (using an UDMA CF card), 60 JPEGs (using a CF card) consecutively or 16 RAW files, so you’ll never, ever miss a shot.”

Tokyoflash Rogue Watch

Tokyoflash Rogue Watch

Tokyoflash has had revealed hard-to-read watches in the past (that looked cool nonetheless), and this time they have the Rogue on offer. The Rogue watch comes with a vivid green LED light that tells you the current time via a maze of connecting LCD blocks.

The outer ring of small dots represents minutes, every fifth dot being slightly smaller to distinguish five minute groups. The ring of large blocks represents rough minutes, the position of the gap indicating approximate minutes in groups of five. The inner ring of blocks represents hours, the position of the gap in the ring showing the current hour as on a clock face.

You can pick the Rogue from either polished silver or black finish, where either one will retail for $161.

T-Mobile G1 Gets Curvy

T-Mobile G1 Gets Curvy

It is a well-documented fact that guys are attracted to curves - how else do you explain the lust after voluptious models in addition to the love of Formula 1 racing? Good news for everyone as the T-Mobile G1 (yes, the fabled Android handset) will come with a curve located near the bottom, resulting in a somewhat banana-like form factor. I guess this will be a “love it or hate it” affair when it hits the road. Apparently, word is going around that the logo behind the phone will come with the words “with Google”, although that remains to be concerned. Do you think the G1 will be able to make as much of a splash as the Apple iPhone?
