If you’re interested in picking up an Ice Cream Sandwich tablet but find that 10″ is too large for you, your wishes might be answered in January. According to reports online, ASUS Eee Pad MeMo which was introduced in June will finally be reaching the market early next year. The folks over at Netbooknews.com have mentioned that their sources have informed them the 7″ tablet will arrive in January next year, and it will be packing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as well.

If you use Logitech Alert as a security system for your house, Logitech has released new versions of its iOS apps for the iPad and iPhone. The updated apps feature improvements such as iOS 5 compatibility,  live audio and H.264 video streaming, thumbnails of recent camera footage when you run the app, the ability to save recorded videos to your device’s Photos app, the ability to watch videos in landscape or portrait mode, and the ability to receive automatic app updates. The iPad version only gets the save recorded videos and automatic app updates.

iPhone app users will be prompted by the Apple app upgrade notification on their phones, but iPad customers will be notified by email instead and they’ll need to uninstall the app and redownload it again from the App Store.

It’s been many months since the Mango update for Windows Phone 7 started rolling out but certain handsets have yet to receive it yet. Case in point – the Dell Venue Pro on AT&T. But for those of you who own that particular phone, we’ve got some good news for you. Microsoft has just announced today it has started delivering the update to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango for the Dell Venue Pro on AT&T today. It’s taken a very long time to arrive, but at least it’s here. After all, it’s better to be late than never right?

If you’ve ever wondered what people look at when they visit your profile on social networks like Facebook, we’ve got some answers for you. The folks over at the EyeTrackShop recently performed an interesting study on a group of 30 participants. Using webcams that were set up to monitor the eye movements of the people in front of the computers, they recorded what each user was looking at every 10 seconds. And judging by the results of the study, there are some interesting things to note.

Yesterday we reported that the BlackBerry PlayBook was successfully rooted by a developer via the “dingleberry” method. Well, it looks like RIM is now aware of the situation and is looking into it. The company released a statement saying that it is now in contact with the “security researchers” behind the exploit. RIM is also aware of the developer’s plans to release tools that will let anybody root their PlayBook, and has mentioned that if that happens, an investigation will take place.

For those of you who are worried that the securities of your BlackBerry phones will be compromised, fear not. RIM has announced that the exploit only affects the PlayBook and their smartphones are unaffected. This is certainly interesting as RIM’s next operating system, BBX, will be a combination of QNX and BlackBerry OS, so I guess they want to be completely sure that such exploits won’t be possible in the future.

In the meantime, the dingleberry website has been set up, though no tools for rooting the PlayBook have been put up yet. How many of you are keen on rooting your PlayBook?

One of the apps that will be available is Last.fm, a music recommendation service that’s made its name for itself over the many years that it’s been around now. In case you didn’t know, Last.fm is a service that keeps track of all the songs you listen to with its scrobbler plugin and stores it in your profile.

Great news for fans of Yahoo! Messenger – Yahoo! has just announced the launched of an updated version of its popular instant messaging client for Windows. The latest version features many new improvements that have been requested by its users. First of all the app has been given a facelift with the introduction of Tabbed IMs. No longer will users have to keep multiple windows open – just one will do, with different conversations appearing as tabs that can be selected at the bottom of the window.

Another feature that has been added is improved spam management – users can now decline multiple invitations from random strangers with a single click. There are new social games available, easy access to recent contacts, smart archiving to make looking up old IM conversations easier, snap and share (screenshot your desktop and share it), quick access to all emoticons, and support for Romanian.

RIM has just announced that it will be pushing out some new features to the BlackBerry App World which will make publishing and discovering apps on the BlackBerry platform a safer experience for everyone involved. BlackBerry users won’t really have to do anything but developers will have to rate their own apps so they can be categorized in the BlackBerry App World appropriately.

Most apps will be given the G (General) rating, while quite a number of apps will receive the Teen (T) rating, especially if they have anything to do with BBM, Facebook, Twitter, “chat” and “dating”. BlackBerry users will be receiving a client update on December 15^th 2011 which will let them set filters when browsing through the App World catalog.

I’m not sure how much adult content is available on the App World (I don’t own a BlackBerry), so I can’t say whether such filters are even necessary but I guess it’s always better to have the option to filter content than having no option at all.
