There is always a sense of satisfaction when it comes to cracking open a particular lock or combination code, and today we bring you the LockCracker that is capable of cracking open any MasterLock which can easily be found across high school and university campuses as well as dorms, thanks to Team JARJ of Olin College. This lock cracking device is capable of taking a combination lock even with an unknown combination, unlocking it while showing off the correct combination to you at the end. Currently, this ambitious project is limited to just the MasterLock brand, although Team JARJ is pretty certain that the flexible electro-mechanical system can be modified in the future to fit into any turn-dial lock – something that might just send folks scampering for newer and better security solutions. The LockCracker is specially automated in a manner that you input as much information as you know about the lock (or nothing at all), and it will run the correct combination using brute force until found. There doesn’t seem to be any end in collecting them all, and Nintendo just announced that Pokemon Black and Pokemon White will be arriving on the Nintendo DS platform on March 6 next year. Just like other Pokemon titles of yore, both White and Black versions will come with 150 new Pokemon to collect, alongside an exclusive Pokemon that will definitely have all trainers hankering after it right from the start. Nintendo also ups the ante for gamers to purchase both titles, since this is the first time that there are different areas contained in each game. The Pokemon Black game world will come with a unique metropolitan area known as Black City, while the lush, green area named White Forest can only found in Pokemon White. Apart from that, the introduction of seasons would also pave the way for you to play the game all year round, as some Pokemon are more common during certain times of the year. Hungarian-based StringDrive claims that the current design of bicycles that have the drive chain and gears located on one side ends up as an asymmetric riding experience which could be more efficient or smoother if some changes were made to the design. This has resulted in the StringBike that relies on a couple of identical but opposing drive units on either side of the bike, featuring swinging arms that move forward and back as the pedals are turned. This unique motion will in turn pull a set of steel ropes on either side, causing a drum and the rear wheel to rotate. As the mechanisms on both sides are moving in symmetry with each round of the pedal, the rear wheel remains constantly driven to deliver a smoother and more efficient ride. Will this help pick up the interest in biking among the general public? We doubt so, but if it works as claimed, you might see more StringBikes around sooner rather than later.

Cowon intends to light up the portable media player market with the Cowon 3D Plenue, where this device will run off the Android 2.1 operating system, boasting a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display that will work in tandem with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, USB support, a T-DMB TV tuner as well as playing nice with full HD video content without missing a beat – now that is a testament to its processing power underneath the hood. You can choose from three different capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB, at differing prices, of course. Don’t be misled by the name of the device though, as it cannot display stereoscopic 3D images or video, but we’re fairly sure it is more than capable of playing back most of the popular audio and video formats. South Korea intends to be even greener with the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) having deployed electric buses on a commercial route. While previous electric bus operations were but trials, none of them plied a commercial route to start rolling the cash in. These buses were already in service four days before Christmas in that part of the world, after going through an 18 month development project with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hankuk Fiber. Serving the Mt. Namsan circular routes, these coaches measure 11.05 meters long and have a range of up to 83km on a single charge. It takes less than half an hour for the lithium-ion battery pack to be fully charged, hitting a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h. To help it last longer on the road, the buses will take advantage of a regenerative system which recycles energy from brakes when running downhill. We can’t wait to see other major cities worldwide adopt a similar stance to show the world just how serious governments are in providing a earth for our children to live in next time.
