Nikon D700 Video

Nikon D700 Video

Yes, apart from the image leak from the German magazine concerning the new Nikon D700 DSLR, here’s a product presentation video (in French) that showcases the D700’s interface, menu system, flash, and even the battery port. Chances are this will be available sometime in July, retailing for approximately €2,600 - that’s roughly a gazillion US dollars if your calculator’s broken. Actually, $4,000 will net you a 12-megapixel shooter complete with a sensor cleaning system.

Sony Mylo 2 Gets Update

All you folks who actually bothered to pick up the Sony Mylo 2, despair not. In addition, this firmware update allows the use of 16GB Memory Sticks now with some tweaks done to the user interface. Projectors that do Curved Surfaces

Projectors that do Curved Surfaces

Matsushita managed to develop a couple of business-oriented projectors which are able to output images on curved surfaces, and this can be achieved without the need for any extra components. I wonder what the feeling is like, watching an image or even a movie on a curved surface - will it be radically different and much more immersive, or will it offer me a royal headache in the end? The two projectors are the PT-D12000 and PT-DZ12000, boasting a brightness of 12,000 lumens. Since it uses a 300W lamp over the traditional 250W lamp, it features an improved thermal design to keep things running cool.

Celleden Ultra Compact Bluetooth Headset

Celleden Ultra Compact Bluetooth Headset

Celleden has just released its Ultra Compact Bluetooth Headset, and you can tell that this is one tiny device by comparing it to the coin beside. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do much for me design-wise (the Aliph Jawbone still gets my vote for being cool), featuring the following specifications :-

  • 6.5 grams
  • 4 hours of non-stop talk time
  • 50 hours of standby time
  • 10 meter working range

The Celleden Ultra Compact Bluetooth Headset won’t break the bank at £29.99 apiece.

Nikon D700 is for Real

Nikon D700 is for Real

The Nikon D700 is not a fake, as seen by this image from a German magazine. Unfortunately, the text is too small for me to decipher even if I know the German language. Well, I guess this means folks who want to make that step up from the entry level DSLR market can start saving their ever more worthless dollars so that they can purchase the D700 when it is officially released.

Sony eyeVio HD Pro Service

Sony eyeVio HD Pro Service

Sony has just lifted the curtain on its eyeVio HD Pro service, allowing posting and sharing of HDTV video files on its video sharing portal. Hmmm, a high definition version of YouTube, eh, except that this is more exclusive. This new upgrade in the eyeVio service will commence from today onwards in Japan, whereas standard definition eyeVio files have been up and available since April last year. Users can use PCs, PS3s and Sony’s BRX-NT1 network TV box to upload their videos. You will need a pretty muscular computer to view the videos though, with a minimum system specifications of an Intel 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM, and Windows XP SP3/Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. Forget about copper telephone lines, you’ll need hard hitting optical fiber networks for the optimal experience.

Netgear WGR614L Open Source Router

Netgear WGR614L Open Source Router

Netgear’s new open source router, the WGR614L, was released meant for use with Linux-based hobbyist firmware like DD-WRT and Tomato, and it ought to be able to support OpenWRT in the near future as well. The flexibility of such a router allows users to fine-tune settings including signal strength and security without the need to wait for Netgear to add those features themselves. Features of the WGR614L include VPN and WEP support, WPA and WP2 security; and Wi-Fi Protected Security. You get a quartet of Ethernet connections just in case there’s someone in the vicinity who has yet to jump onto the Wi-Fi bandwagon. The Netgear WGR614L is relatively affordable at just $69.

Olympus 360-degree Camera and Lens

Olympus 360-degree Camera and Lens

Olympus has just released a 360-degree camera and lens, hoping that those in the surveillance business will see the importance of such a camera, letting one take a photo of everything around it. I suppose the final image will be drastically different from playing Quake in “cg_fov 360″, since it is nigh impossible to see anything at that setting. This new camera and lens combo will shoot in all directions using just a single lens, but it is shackled by the fact that it cannot shoot 360 degrees vertically like Google’s camera can. There is no word on a shipping date, but thieves ought to brush up on their act if they want to work around this all-encompassing digital eye.
